There’s something special about gear that’s made with purpose—by someone who truly understands what it’s meant for. At Hammer and Axe Leathercraft, that’s exactly where our story begins: not in a factory, but in a firehall.
A Firefighter-Owned Business with a Passion for Craft
I’m Ara, a career firefighter in British Columbia. After 10 years on the job, I found myself frustrated with the cheap, mass-produced badge wallets that never seemed to last. They didn’t reflect the pride we take in our badges—or the work we do.
So I started making my own. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a passion. Today, Hammer and Axe Leathercraft is a quickly growing operation dedicated to building Canadian handmade wallets for first responders across the country.
Built by Hand. Built to Last.
Every wallet that leaves my shop is hand-cut, hand-stitched, and finished with care. I use premium materials like Badalassi Carlo Pueblo—a vegetable-tanned leather known for its strength, beauty, and patina over time. As a firefighter-owned business, I know your gear needs to stand up to real-world use, which is why I build every wallet to be tough, functional, and refined.
From the stitching to the custom badge cutouts, I treat every wallet as a one-of-a-kind piece worthy of the badge it carries.
